The School of Geography becomes an Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) university partner for our Environmental Science programmes
The IEMA has recognised our focus and competence in environmental and sustainability practices, which are embedded into our courses, signifying that we have met the standards set by IEMA for knowledge, skills, and experience in the field.

The Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA), a global professional body for anyone working in environment and sustainability, has approved our BSc Environmental Science and BSc Environmental Science with Business Management programmes (including Year Abroad versions).
The IEMA approval is recognition of our focus and competence in environmental and sustainability practices, which are embedded into our courses, signifying that we have met the standards set by IEMA for knowledge, skills, and experience in the field.
Programme Director of our Environmental Science degree, Professor Gemma Harvey, commented: "Our Environmental Science programmes equip students with the knowledge, skills and tools to help create a more sustainable world. Gaining accreditation from the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment confirms the high quality of our programmes and their effectiveness in helping our graduates secure jobs and become future leaders in environment and sustainability.”
The IEMA provides students on these courses with student membership for the duration of the course and, on successful completion, qualifies them for GradIEMA. The graduate membership serves as a launchpad for future leaders in the environment and sustainability sectors, offering a range of benefits to support graduates throughout their careers. Graduates can then fast-track to Practitioner Membership (PIEMA) following successful completion of a work-based assessment of competence.
